When Maria from Palermo Photo and I decided to head down to New Orleans for Thu and Chad's engagement session, we dreamed of warm days and pretty sunshine. Instead we got 40 degrees and overcast, the exact weather we had left behind in Pittsburgh. Thankfully, this sweet couple sucked up the cold temps in their normally warm hometown and headed out with us to create some magic. New Orleans City Park provided the perfect backdrop for this whole session, even with the uncooperative weather it really was stunning. While Maria and I were bundled up, the couple donned some fancy clothe for their shoot, Thu wore a lovely pinky-peach toned dress that popped against the spanish moss and blue greens of the park. The mix of nature and beautiful architectural elements in the park gave us a great variety for the session, and Thu and Chad were naturals in front of the camera. Since I knew we were coming down for this once in a lifetime session, I threw a fun dress in my bag in hopes that we would have time during the shoot to use it. Thankfully it fit Thu like a glove, and when she came out in her new outfit (after a beignet break to warm up of course), the sun peeked through the clouds and created the exact look we came to get! The bejeweled gown I brought with me in hopes of using for the session sparkled in the sun. We had about half an hour of gorgeous golden hour light and thankfully this sweet couple let us use every second. I just loved how the two different dresses and two different lighting conditions really created such different looks for our session and created a lot of variety even when we went back and re-used the same spots in the park!
