Shuang and Anthony's Romantic, Pastel, Riverfront Choderwood Wedding

There may be songs about rain on your wedding day and weird sayings about how it's good luck, but no one ever really wants it to rain on their wedding day. But it happens. Thankfully for Shuang and Anthony, they laughed, embraced the rain, and managed to still have an amazing day. We shuffled our timeline, starting portraits early, taking rain breaks, and just rolling with what mother nature threw at us. Choderwood provided a gorgeous backdrop for their rainy day nuptials. I started the morning out taking detail shots of the lovely flowers from Pisarcik Greenhouse, then Shuang jumped into her STUNNING Claire Pettibone dress to make sure we could make photos happen before the rain rolled in. We did their AMAZING, emotive, fun first look in front of the beautiful fountains nestled in a garden alongside the house. Not that the backdrop mattered, because Anthony seriously had one of the best reactions I've ever seen, these photos would have been magical in front of a dang dumpster. Once he recovered from the shock and pure joy of seeing Shuang for the first time, we wandered the riverfront property squeezing in as many portraits as possible. Choderwood is bursting with awesome spots for photos, from the dock with great views, a gorgeous garden, even a sweet little tree swing in front of the ceremony space! After wrapping up portraits the pair headed inside to prep for the ceremony. Holding the ceremony in the little treehouse on the property surrounded by their family and friends, many of whom came literally across the globe to be there, the pair tied the knot in a short, sweet, intimate ceremony. Right after the end of the ceremony, the sky opened up, drenching the venue. Thankfully, the rain briefly broke long enough for the newlyweds to hold their tea ceremony before the rain started up again. The tea ceremony was cut a little short by another downpour. Shuang had done some gorgeous DIY for their tented reception, soI quickly grabbed some shots. I'm glad I did, the storm eventually ramped up. As the winds whipped through, a tree feel at the venue. While normally this would be a disaster, Anthony and Shuang focused on their day. Changing outfits and doing their first dance out in the rain, the pair laughed, slipped, slid, and danced away before moving to an indoor reception (always have a back up plan!) to celebrate this next stage in their lives together.
