Abby and Steve's Chic, Classic Fox Chapel Golf Club Wedding

If Abby and Steve look familiar, that’s because I’m pretty sure they’re one of my most photographed couples ever. When I met these two right after they got engaged, they were modeling as a faux bride and groom for a styled shoot with the amazing Sapphire and Lace. Little did I know less than a year and a half later I would be there to document the day as they tied the knot for real. The pair started the morning at one of my all time favorite venues, Fox Chapel Golf Club. It’s pretty much detail shot heaven with the best lighting ever, so of course it’s one of my favorites. As everyone got ready, Bethany from Sapphire and Lace (also one of Abby’s bridesmaids!) such me some gorgeous flowers to make sure every detail shot was picture perfect. After Abby and Steve got dressed at the club, they headed down the road to Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church. I hadn’t been there since the first time I shot at the golf club, over eight years ago (I’m old). The pair had a heartfelt ceremony in the stunning church. I haven’t seen a church with such great natural light! Once their sweet nuptials wrapped, they braved the nearly 90 degree day for some portraits. Since these two had a lot of practice in front of my lens, it was easy to get beautiful photos. Despite shooting several weddings at the club, this was my first time hopping on a golf cart to shoot on the course and it did not disappoint! Once we wrapped up some quick portraits, we all hurried indoor to soak up some air conditioning, pop some champagne, and dance the night away!

Janessa and Mike's Spring Fox Chapel Golf Club Wedding

I spent the morning crossing my fingers and doing superstitious "please don't rain" rituals. After enduring sideways downpours at their engagement session, I knew Janessa and Mike deserved perfect weather for their wedding. While mother nature wasn't on my side, the drizzle didn't get these two down. I started the afternoon off with the bridal party as they got ready art the lovely Orchard Hill Church. I always like to start my morning with details, so I was excited as Janessa's bridesmaids handed me her adorable invite from Minted, gorgeous Badgley Mischa shoes, bouquet from Blossoms by Jillian, and drop dead gorgeous Pronovias gown from bridal Beginnings. Orchard Hill has great light, and the pretty color palette of the day photographed beautifully, so styling details was a total breeze. After I wrapped up with details, Janessa and Mike got ready in separate areas of the church. Janessa had a total dream team of vendors, with Glam to Go doing her hair and Emily of Artistry by Emily working on her make up. The pair finished up her makeup and left her looking flawless, but of course Janessa was gorgeous even before the ladies worked their magic! The pair exchanged heartfelt letters which they read privately before the ceremony. After a moment to themselves, it was time for the ceremony! I definitely caught Mike as he let out an audible "Oh WOW"as Janessa stepped into the aisle. The nuptials had me in tears since one of the readings the couple chose was Pablo Neruda's Sonnet 17 (fun fact, I have a piece of this sonnet tattooed on my left arm surrounded by flowers, including lilacs, so I was basically a mess at the lilac colored, Neruda filled wedding). After the pair said I do, we all braved the rain to head to Fox Chapel Golf Club for portraits. While the rain cleared up, we photographed in covered areas. Honestly, if I could be at any venue on a rainy day, Fox Chapel Golf Club is the dream. Every inch is stunning and the light is beautiful. Outside, the landscaping is the perfect spot for romantic, classic portraits any couple would hold dear! Once we wrapped up portrait time, it started to pour. Thankfully, under the stunning lighting in the bright and airy atrium, you'd never know it was such a gloomy day. Tasty Bakery had crafted a gorgeous cake, it perfectly fit with the whole vibe of the wedding and I loved the floral accents that Jillian added to fit her pretty centerpieces. After being announced from the iconic balcony over the atrium, Janessa and Mike came downstairs to dance the night away before their rainy sparkler exit. I'm sure after enduring a rainy engagement session AND rainy wedding, they'll be soaking up the sunshine on their honeymoon in Hawaii!

Alexa and Brette's Classic Grand Hall at the Priory Wedding

I couldn't have asked for a better start to my tenth wedding season. After a spotty forecast that changed each day, Alexa and Brette's wedding managed to be sandwiched between two gloomy, rainy days. This couple is a total ray of sunshine, so walking in to their wedding with the sun shining, the trees and flowers blooming, it was so perfect. The pair got ready in the hotel attached to their venue, the gorgeous Grand Hall at the Priory in the North Side of Pittsburgh. I'll admit, I LOVE spaces where you can do everything- get ready, get married, and party the night away! The couple had a very classic vibe to their intimate wedding, with a sleek black, white and wine color palette for the day to really highlight the gorgeous space. I started the morning with Wanderlust Beauty, Alexa, and her ladies, just down the hall from where Brette and his guys were getting ready. Alexa looked KILLER in her dress from Exquisite Bride, I was so blown away by the gorgeous beading on it! After Alexa got dressed we all headed next door for the ceremony. Let me just say, if you're thinking of getting married in the Priory, DO IT and get ALL the twinkle lights. It's seriously magical. Alexa and Brette had a sweet, heartfelt, short ceremony before heading out for some photos with the iconic yellow bridges in the North Shore. When I say these two were naturals in front of the camera, I'm not just being nice. They SLAYED their portraits. They were actually so good at being photographed, their videographer Connor Hochbein and I pulled them out of the reception twice just to get MORE photos of these lovebirds, once at golden hour along the streets around the venue and once under the twinkly string lights on the patio at the Priory. Once we got done stealing them away for photos, the newlyweds headed inside to dance the night away until their sparkler exit!
